I was recently invited for dinner at Pasta Remoli in Finsbury Park. I don’t know the area very well but a friend of mine lives there, so it was the perfect opportunity for us to have a catch up over some yummy Italian food! Pasta Remoli is located a stone’s throw from Finsbury Park tube station and has a lovely rustic yet modern feel to it.
Chef Simon Remoli was born and raised in Rome, inspired by his own mother’s fabulous home cooking. He trained in Rome before moving to and working in London, but he was disappointed with the quality of pasta that was being served in some of London’s top restaurants. He wanted to be able to offer customers a diverse range of fresh home made pastas and sauces, giving them the opportunity to customise their meal as they see fit. And so Pasta Remoli was born. Alongside Simone is Head Chef Alessandro Stefoni, previous sous chef of Michelin starred restaurant Imago.
The only issue with giving the customer such a wide range of options is that it makes it difficult to choose! It all looked so good and we wanted to try it all!
We ended up starting with the Mix Bruschetta (with tomatoes, pesto, pickles and veg). It was easily one of the most attractive bruschetta I’d ever had, with so many different fresh flavours and textures – the portions were also very big!
We also tried the Burrata Cheese & Parma Ham – burrata is one of my favourite cheeses at the moment, I can’t get enough of it. And it was perfectly paired with the ham.
For the main courses, we eventually decided on the Pappardelle with Pork Sausage Ragu and Aubergine & Roasted Tomato Ravioli with Cherry Tomato & Ricotta (both with extra parmesan!)
These portion sizes were also very big and I couldn’t finish it all, as much as I would have loved to, because it was gorgeous! We did manage to make a little bit of room for a delicious Pannacotta with Chocolate and Wild Berries, and a couple of aperitifs – Limoncello (one of my favourites) and Amaro Montenegro (I’d never tried this traditional Italian liqueur before, but I really enjoyed it and will definitely be ordering it in future!)
It was a lovely evening and the service was impeccable. The prices are also very reasonable and if you live nearby, you can order takeaway through Deliveroo. So whether you fancy dinner out or if you’ve got a pasta craving while you’re in your PJs on the sofa, you can always enjoy Pasta Remoli! You can find out more on their website here.
