Now who doesn’t love a good American BBQ place? There are some brilliant ones in London, Bodeans has always been one of our faves. This weekend we tried out a new local one, which we’d been meaning to check out for a while – Meat & Shake. The name pretty much does what it says on the tin – meat and milkshakes!
It’s a pretty big menu, with a wide choice of burgers and smoked BBQ dishes. As you might have read, I adore anything with truffle flavour, so I had to order the Truffle Shuffle burger – Beef Burger with Truffle Mayo, Gruyère Cheese, Honey & Onion Truffle Glaze. It was absolutely gorgeous and definitely up there in my top 5 burgers to date! I also ordered a side of Pit Beans – 5 kinds of beans slow-cooked and smoked in tomato sauce, enriched with the smoked meats that were cooked alongside them.
Tim ordered something rather epic which frustratingly doesn’t seem to be on the website – I was hoping to be able to find it on there. It was a burger which also included a whole host of other goodies, including bacon, brisket and onion rings. It was incredible and probably the biggest burger I’ve ever seen!
It’s worth noting that all of the meat is halal, from Macken Bros of Chiswick – it’s not something I necessarily agree with, but I’m always open minded with things like this. Their cheese is also suitable for vegetarians. In my mind, the more people these options open the restaurant up to, the better.
And then there’s the milkshake menu. The most epic milkshake menu I’ve ever seen, even compared to ones I’ve seen in America. I went for the Fig & Cinnamon, but there are loads on there that I’ll have to return for, such as Rhubarb & Custard and Pistachio & Marshmallow.
And we will be returning. Very soon!
