Beefeater ‘Punch Brunch’ at Florentine, Lambeth

An area of London that I really don’t know much about is Lambeth North (South of Waterloo), so I was looking forward to trying out a new brunch menu in the area earlier in the summer with my friend Laura. Florentine is an all-day dining restaurant and bar on the South Bank, right opposite Lambeth North tube station, and we were there to try out their new Bottomless ‘Summer Punch Brunch’. On offer was an expertly-concocted gin punch creation created exclusively for Florentine by Beefeater gin and the bar team.

We were a bit confused when we arrived because it wasn’t mentioned on the menu anywhere – we were expecting there to be a separate ‘Punch Brunch’ menu but in fact, you could order whatever you would like from the menu, and it was £15 extra per person for free-flowing (bottomless!) punch while you brunch. Served from vintage jugs at the table, it was made with Beefeater Gin, Maraschino, Grapefruit, Elderflower and Kamm & Sons bitters – bursting with zesty and flavours, perfect for the summer months (full recipe below). I can confirm it was beautifully sweet and far too easy to drink!


I ordered the Baked Shakshouka with duck egg and Laura ordered the Roast Salmon with Hollandaise and Asparagus, and we shared some chips and sweet potato. All of the dishes were excellently executed and very filling!


We were so full after these lovely dishes and a LOT of punch, we didn’t think we could manage any desserts. But we were persuaded into trying their staple pud, their ‘Venetian Doughnuts’. And I’m so glad we did – they were fluffy, sugary and lovely!


Florentine is also known for its Ostrich eggs which it serves in a few dishes, such as the epic cooked breakfast (£65) to be shared by four people (note to self, I must return and bring even more friends to tick this one off the list!!). However the restaurant notes that their ‘ostriches are temperamental and like warm weather’, laying on average one egg every two days in season – as such they are ‘subject to availability’ and should be requested when booking a table. So don’t forget to book if you want to tuck into these!

· 150ml Beefeater Gin

· 10ml Maraschino

· 5ml Kamm and Son

· 70ml Fresh Pink Grapefruit juice

· 70ml Elderflower

· 300ml of fresh Apple Juice

· 50ml soda

Mix all the ingredients in a vintage punch bowl and serve chilled!
