Christmas Brekkies with Brioche Pasquier

If you can’t get hold of Tim and I on a Saturday or Sunday around 10/11am, the likeliness is we’re out at one of our favourite local breakfast spots! Christmas is a time of eating a LOT of food, and breakfast should be no exception. So much emphasis is placed on Christmas dinner, but I love to start the day right. We usually have smoked salmon on some form of bread (toast, bagel, croissant), sometimes with scrambled egg, and a healthy amount of bucks fizz! Brioche Pasquier sent me some of their yummy products to try out, which got me thinking about Christmas breakfasts in France and around the world. Brioche Pasquier (in case you hadn’t guessed by the name!) is a French company, started in 1936 by Gabriel Pasquier in a small village bakery in Les Cerqueux, France. Fast forward to 2015 and over 4 million Brioche Pasquier products are enjoyed every day! A French breakfast is one of my favourite kinds, with so many delicious pastries, cheese and chocolate. Brunch at Brickwood, Tooting

I’m sure you all know by now that I bloody love a good brunch, and if that includes a bloody good Bloody Mary, even better! We’ve been trying out some of the cafes and restaurants near where we live, the latest of which was Brickwood in Tooting Market. We’d visited it a few weeks before when we were looking for a quick coffee (and a cheeky slice of cake, ssshhhh!) which was when we realised they do a pretty amazing brunch, and knew we’d have to return soon! It was pretty packed on the Sunday morning we visited, but the staff were still really attentive and we were served quickly. We ordered a couple of flat whites to kick start the day, along with a Bloody Mary each. We were both seriously impressed with the latter – it was one of the best I’ve had, largely due to the cute extras it came with – bacon, a quail egg and what I took to be a mini hash brown. It was only around £4.00 and …

Lunch at Breakfast & Burgers, Tooting

This weekend we were exploring Tooting Market looking for a few bits and bobs for the house and came across Breakfast & Burgers. I’d seen it being talked about on Twitter and it was just what we fancied for lunch – Tim was a bit hungover after a Friday night out and I’d been suffering from a bad cold. So some comfort food was on the cards! Tucked inside Tooting Market (Unit 21), Breakfast & Burgers is a small venue with fun ‘meat-related’ artwork on the walls.     The menu was a lot smaller than I was expecting – it was pretty much a choice of single/double cheeseburger or single/double bacon cheeseburger (although they do also do veggie options!) But that wasn’t necessarily a problem, provided the burgers were good 😉 Looking at their website, their Leadenhall Street site seems to offer a wider range of food. And as you may have guessed by the name, they have a pretty great breakfast menu too!  We went for a single and double bacon cheeseburger with fries …
