A Rock N Roll Brunch at Hard Rock Cafe, London

As I’m sure most of you will know, brunch is one of my very favourite things to do at the weekend. I can often spend my working week daydreaming about a good helping of eggs and toast at one of my fave brunch spots. I tend to go somewhere fairly close to where we live (and there are a lot of great places, such as Mud and Brickwood) but when I was invited to the launch of the new brunch menu at Hard Rock Cafe, I ventured further into central London, early on a Sunday morning. I’d never been to Hard Rock Cafe in London. The only one I’d previously visited was in Hollywood, after a long flight from London. While I remember the food being good, I couldn’t really take advantage of the atmosphere and surroundings, as the impending jet lag was dragging me towards my bed. The impression I got, and had generally always had about the Hard Rock Cafe, was that it was more for the tourists than the locals. However, situated …

Brunch at Roux at The Landau

Tim and I have both been fans of the Roux family for a long time, having visited some of their restaurants (you can read my review of The Waterside here), and their cookbooks take up a substantial part of our bookcase! So when we were invited to brunch at Roux at The Landau, we knew it would be special! Roux at The Landau combines the talents of Albert and Michel Roux Jr, and Head Chef Oliver Boon. Situated inside The Langham, London, Roux at The Landau is a stunning circular shape, with large windows on one side bringing lots of light into the restaurant, which is where we were seated. We were greeted to the sound of a guitar player, playing gentle modern songs, which gave it a lovely ambience. As you can imagine, the service was impeccable, and within minutes we were served a glass of N.V Lenoble Brut, Cuvée Roux champagne each. To start with, Tim ordered the Brandy Scented Lobster Bisque and I chose the Wild Game Terrine, Chestnut, Pear, Rosemary Brioche and Foie …

Brunch at Brickwood, Tooting

I’m sure you all know by now that I bloody love a good brunch, and if that includes a bloody good Bloody Mary, even better! We’ve been trying out some of the cafes and restaurants near where we live, the latest of which was Brickwood in Tooting Market. We’d visited it a few weeks before when we were looking for a quick coffee (and a cheeky slice of cake, ssshhhh!) which was when we realised they do a pretty amazing brunch, and knew we’d have to return soon! It was pretty packed on the Sunday morning we visited, but the staff were still really attentive and we were served quickly. We ordered a couple of flat whites to kick start the day, along with a Bloody Mary each. We were both seriously impressed with the latter – it was one of the best I’ve had, largely due to the cute extras it came with – bacon, a quail egg and what I took to be a mini hash brown. It was only around £4.00 and …
