Taste of London 2017

Last month was my absolute favourite foodie event of the year, Taste of London. I’ve attended and written about it in 2015 and 2016, and now it’s time for this year’s instalment. And I was craving it more than ever. Food festivals are becoming increasingly popular in this country and I visit as many as I can for both work and pleasure. One of these was the London Evening Standard ‘Night Market’ a few weeks ago which I’d been really looking forward to, but unfortunately it was a big disappointment. There wasn’t many food stalls (or at least, not as many as I was expecting) and because the stalls were street food rather than restaurants with kitchens, the queues were long. Seriously long. In the whole evening I had two dishes and one drink. It was a real shame. As soon as I walked into Taste of London on a beautiful sunny evening at Regent’s Park, I breathed a sigh of relief. The atmosphere is always fantastic and each year I’m honestly like a kid …

A Day Out At Malton Food Lovers Festival

I can’t believe I’m only just getting round to writing this, but in May, I went to a great food festival with my Mum when I was up visiting in Yorkshire. It took place in Malton (a quaint market town about 30-40 mins drive from York), aptly named the Malton Food Lovers Festival. My Mum and I love any excuse to wander around a food market and this one didn’t disappoint, with all different types of cuisines, crafts, live music and performances. It was incredibly busy, so not particularly easy to take lots of photos of the food stalls, but here are a few I managed to snap. There was so much amazing produce on offer – I ended up buying two pheasants, a rhubarb liqueur and Yorkshire halloumi cheese. We stopped for a tea and scone at one of the permanent restaurants on the square, and watched the world go by. There were also a number of live cookery demonstrations taking place with celebrity chefs such as Rosemary Shrager, but unfortunately we just didn’t …

Taste of London 2016

One of my absolute favourite events of the year is Taste of London. I went last year and just loved everything about it. An outdoor festival, packed with some of the best restaurants in London, serving small portions of delicious food so you have the opportunity to try lots of dishes… what more could a foodie want? The event runs throughout the week and into the weekend – this year I was tempted to go earlier in the week, but decided to go on Saturday to make the most of it with plenty of tipples, and without fear of a mid-week hangover! It was quite muddy underfoot when we went, as it had been raining pretty heavily during the week, but we were fortunate that it stayed away for our visit. Still, I don’t think rain could dampen my spirits at this event! Like last year, I thought I’d list the dishes we tried and tell you what I thought! First up was Cobia sashimi with pickled green chilli salsa, black sesame and chive oil …
