The Best Burger of MY LIFE at Honest Burgers, Tooting

For a long, long time, I’d been meaning to pay a visit to Honest Burgers. I’d heard rave reviews and knew I would love it, but just didn’t get round to it. On Friday night, Tim and I made a fairly spontaneous decision to go there for dinner in Tooting on the way home. And I’m so glad I did, because I had the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. That’s a bold statement. But I’m sticking by it… (please excuse the photos – I didn’t have my good camera with me as I wasn’t expecting to go for dinner). I ordered the Special – Beef, Black Forest Bacon, Bavarian Smoked Cheddar, Sauerkraut and Currywurst Sauce. All burgers are served with Rosemary Salted Chips. Now I’ve tried a lot of burgers, many of which I’ve written about on here. So you might be wondering what made this one so great. 1. The burger itself was delicious. Honest Burgers source their meat from Ginger Pig butchers, which as regular readers will know, I’m a huge …

August 2015: A house, a kitten, and lots of blogging!

Hello all! As I’m posting quite a lot on the blog now, I thought it might be nice to do a little round-up of the things I’ve written about at the end of each month, collated in one post. So here’s my first one for August! And it has been a busy month! We exchanged, completed and moved into our very first house in Tooting, and at the weekend, we got our first kitten, Dexter (yes, named after the TV show serial killer!) A month of firsts, big expenditure and lots and lots of packing boxes (which Dexter seems to be having a lot of fun with!) I’ve still somehow managed to keep up with blogging, alongside my day job, so here’s what I wrote about on the blog this month! Restaurants/Pop-ups I visited… I visited a very cool Berlin Brunch pop-up in London. Read more here. I tucked into gourmet sandwiches, salads and puds at Aline in Mayfair (possibly the most I’ve ever eaten in one sitting!). Read more here. For Afternoon Tea Week, I tried …

Ginger Pig Sunday Roast

The Christmas before last, I bought Tim a voucher for us both to do a butchery class together at The Ginger Pig, which is how I became aware of the company. I’ll do a blog post specifically about the experience later, but soon after booking the class, I learned that there was a shop just a 15-20 minute walk from our flat, in Victoria Park village (Lauriston Road). You may have seen in my ‘about’ section, my late Dad was a regional manager for the Meat and Livestock Commission, so high quality meat has always been important to me. And I don’t think you can get any better than The Ginger Pig, especially as the livestock are raised in North Yorkshire, where I was born and spent my childhood. We chose some Beef Fore Rib (one rib) which was more than enough for the two of us – we cooked it with good old Yorkie puds and veggies, it’s our ideal Sunday night treat! The staff in the Lauriston Road shop are incredibly helpful and …
