Throwback Thursday – Sesame Restaurant, Dubrovnik

This week’s Throwback Thursday is about a lovely little restaurant close to Dubrovnik’s city centre, called Sesame. Tim and I went on holiday to Croatia in July 2013. It was a bit of a strange holiday as my Dad had passed away in Cyprus only the month before. I really wasn’t sure if it was appropriate to go, but we’d had it booked for a year, and my friends and family said it would do me good to take my mind off everything and to relax for a while. Thankfully the bosses at my company at the time were incredibly lovely and fine with me taking the extra time off, and I’m glad I did it. We stayed in a large hotel called the Rixos Libertas, right on the coast, about a 20 minute walk from the centre of Dubrovnik. Valentine’s at Wright Brothers

Despite being a big seafood lover, I hadn’t been to Wright Brothers before. We booked an early table for Valentine’s Day at the Spitalfields branch and when we arrived, their amazing ‘pound a pop oysters’ offer was still going on. This takes place Monday to Sunday, 3pm-6pm – it’s a fantastic deal for Oyster lovers! So naturally, we snaffled a few before ordering the rest of our meal. We went for the Petit platter, which had a brilliant selection of seafood, including whelks, langoustines and mussels – all were lovely! Don’t be fooled by the name, it was plenty big enough! For my main course I had the half lobster, chargrilled, with chips and garlic butter. The butter had been melted over the lobster (I was kind of hoping it would be served on the side, like they do at Burger and Lobster) but it didn’t matter, really.
