New Year’s Eve Dinner at Yauatcha, Soho

You may have seen me raving about Yauatcha over the past six months or so. Tim and I visited the new City location when it launched last year and we had a fantastic time – it even made my ‘Top 5 Restaurants of 2015‘! We’ve got quite a few holidays planned for this year and couldn’t really take any more time off to go away for New Year, so we had a think about what we could do in London. We decided to go for a nice dinner together and try out Yauatcha in Soho. I’d been excited for ages, as I’d seen their ‘festive menu’ on their website which included barbecue rib eye beef, spicy scallop and gingerbread parfait. I’d even e-mailed them in advance to make sure they were serving it on New Year’s Eve, which they confirmed they were. Valentine’s at Wright Brothers

Despite being a big seafood lover, I hadn’t been to Wright Brothers before. We booked an early table for Valentine’s Day at the Spitalfields branch and when we arrived, their amazing ‘pound a pop oysters’ offer was still going on. This takes place Monday to Sunday, 3pm-6pm – it’s a fantastic deal for Oyster lovers! So naturally, we snaffled a few before ordering the rest of our meal. We went for the Petit platter, which had a brilliant selection of seafood, including whelks, langoustines and mussels – all were lovely! Don’t be fooled by the name, it was plenty big enough! For my main course I had the half lobster, chargrilled, with chips and garlic butter. The butter had been melted over the lobster (I was kind of hoping it would be served on the side, like they do at Burger and Lobster) but it didn’t matter, really.
