Cheese and Beef at Bordelaise, Tooting

Cheese. Beef. France. Perfection! When I heard about new restaurant Bordelaise in Tooting, it sounded like my idea of heaven. As any regular readers of the blog will know, those are some of my favourite things in life, so I was really excited to pay Bordelaise a visit, especially as it was a new local business. Located in the heart of Broadway Market, it’s a small and cosy venue. Many of the restaurants in my area, Bordelaise included, have been given glowing reviews in media outlets like Time Out and Evening Standard recently, our lovely Tooting is certainly growing in popularity! We took a seat in the restaurant, set up with traditional wooden tables and red walls adorned with French art, and tried a Swiss beer to begin with (‘1936’), I believe a first for me, and it was really nice – light and refreshing! We were presented with the cheeseboard and offered three to choose from – it was so difficult to decide (first world problems, but a real problem for a cheese lover!). …

Brunch at Brickwood, Tooting

I’m sure you all know by now that I bloody love a good brunch, and if that includes a bloody good Bloody Mary, even better! We’ve been trying out some of the cafes and restaurants near where we live, the latest of which was Brickwood in Tooting Market. We’d visited it a few weeks before when we were looking for a quick coffee (and a cheeky slice of cake, ssshhhh!) which was when we realised they do a pretty amazing brunch, and knew we’d have to return soon! It was pretty packed on the Sunday morning we visited, but the staff were still really attentive and we were served quickly. We ordered a couple of flat whites to kick start the day, along with a Bloody Mary each. We were both seriously impressed with the latter – it was one of the best I’ve had, largely due to the cute extras it came with – bacon, a quail egg and what I took to be a mini hash brown. It was only around £4.00 and …

Lunch at Breakfast & Burgers, Tooting

This weekend we were exploring Tooting Market looking for a few bits and bobs for the house and came across Breakfast & Burgers. I’d seen it being talked about on Twitter and it was just what we fancied for lunch – Tim was a bit hungover after a Friday night out and I’d been suffering from a bad cold. So some comfort food was on the cards! Tucked inside Tooting Market (Unit 21), Breakfast & Burgers is a small venue with fun ‘meat-related’ artwork on the walls.     The menu was a lot smaller than I was expecting – it was pretty much a choice of single/double cheeseburger or single/double bacon cheeseburger (although they do also do veggie options!) But that wasn’t necessarily a problem, provided the burgers were good 😉 Looking at their website, their Leadenhall Street site seems to offer a wider range of food. And as you may have guessed by the name, they have a pretty great breakfast menu too!  We went for a single and double bacon cheeseburger with fries …
